Artist's Description

I dream of Hummingbirds by Steve Shanks, oil on canvas.

I dream of hummingbirds visiting at night,
incessant ,
insistant...
blocking the light,

I dare not move quickly or strike them away,

But perhaps if I’m quiet they'll all go their way.

I dream of hummingbirds wave upon wave ...

I think of the past...
about what's gone today...

hummingbirds call to me and to my dismay,

what’s past must stay past...
the birds need me today.

About Steve Shanks

Steve Shanks

I have been drawing all of my life, though I followed in my fathers footsteps and went into the business world for 25 years before I started full time painting in 1999. Over the years I have developed my own style and vision. A voracious painter, the paintings began to accumulate, and I discovered there was a market for my work. In 2000 I began selling in galleries and through my website. I am involved in many shows and contests, and have won several awards for creativity and composition. My work is continuing to grow in value.
